How does Gaviscon double action work?
- 1) The sodium alginate in Gaviscon Double Action begins to form a thick layer (known as a raft) on top of the stomach contents once it makes contact with the stomach acid. The raft acts as a strong physical barrier and helps to keep stomach contents in the stomach where they belong and not in the food pipe where they hurt.

- Gaviscon® liquids are available in 12 fl. oz bottles in regular and extra strength variations. They are also available in Cherry and Cool Mint flavors. Shake well. Take 1-2 tablespoons 4x a day for Regular Strength and 2-4 teaspoonfuls 4x a day for Extra Strength, or as directed by a doctor.
